{"id":825,"date":"2019-03-20T03:35:18","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T03:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chinmayaupahar.in\/blog\/?p=825"},"modified":"2019-03-20T03:35:18","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T03:35:18","slug":"holika-and-prahlada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.chinmayaupahar.in\/index.php\/2019\/03\/20\/holika-and-prahlada\/","title":{"rendered":"Holika and Prahlada"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The Festival of Holi<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Holi is celebrated in several ways&#8230;the most common features include the day (the full moon of Phalgun) and lighting of a bonfire. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Contrary to most festivals, which are celebrated with great discipline, Holi is more freely undertaken as everyone takes part in some form of mischief.<\/p>\n<h3>Story of Holika and Prahlada<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are several variations in the stories about Holi, but perhaps the most common is involving a demon king called Hiranyakashipu, who had a son called Prahlada. Prahlada was a devotee of Lord Vishnu, instead of worshipping his father. Prahlada calls out to Lord Vishnu who comes to his rescue and as Holika perishes in the fire.
